What is a good substitute for eggplant in a recipe?

I really hate eggplant, but have a pasta recipe that calls for it. Any ideas?What is a good substitute for eggplant in a recipe?
Use potatoes instead. When I make moussaka I sometimes make it with potatoes in place of the egg plant if I don't have any.
